I'm just editing a story at the moment and having a dilemma about covers. This story was inspired by what is going on in the news right now about teenagers in England and the effects of Instagram on their mental health. It's a big story here as the government are trying to slap Instagram with a Duty of Care order. Even as I was writing this story the owners of the site have agreed to remove self harm images completely, though it hasn't happened yet.
The story is about a girl who spends a lot of her time on social media and has issues because of it, however her parents send her away for a weekend and it changes things for her. It's all wrapped up in a sweet romance, as all my stories are, and it has a happy ending. But which type of cover would suit this best? I don't want to mislead readers into thinking it's a fluffy hearts and rainbows book, but I also don't want people to think it's going to be over heavy on the angst, especially as it's still a sweet romance. Here are my two current choices, or maybe I should stick to a more traditional cover? I'd love your input and thoughts! You can email me as usual through the contact page or comment here (though none of you ever do, ha ha!)
